Lucy is three. We can’t believe it.
Tonight, we were talking at dinner about Lucy moving up out of the nursery and into the “big kids” class at church. We asked how she felt about it, and she said “excited.” Then we asked her how she felt being three, and the following conversation ensued:
Amy: how do you feel about turning three?
Lucy: I’m a little sad. Just a little.
Amy: What do you miss about being two?
Lucy: I don’t know. I’m just a little sad. And a little happy.
Amy: That’s called bittersweet. When you’re happy and sad at the same time. Sometimes that’s part of growing up, being bittersweet.
Lucy: And that’s just another blessing.
That’s what it’s like, watching our little baby become a three year old. Bittersweet. And a blessing.
We love you Lucy Jane.
